Tahoe Model Works (aka Brian Leppert of Carson City) is producing some amazing replicas of prototype trucks in HO scale. Each is equipped with Intermountain precision metal wheelsets in either standard (110) or semi-scale (88) tread. These trucks not only look great, but roll so well you'll discover grades in your yards and sidings that were never there before!

Brian's first efforts were a 50-ton Dalman two-level truck (with or without lateral motion detail) and a finely proportioned AC&F archbar—absolutely the best-looking truck out there for period equipment. He has since released a Barber/Bettendorf caboose truck, a Buckeye ARA 50T truck, ARA 50T double-truss truck and a coil-elliptic 50T truck.
High Sierra Hobbies stocks all versions, and they're priced competitively with most other premium aftermarket trucks. Call or e-mail us for more information.
One of the most interesting products we've seen is a stationary locomotive test track called "Testtraxx." Built on a rock-stable marine board base, Testtraxx features a system of sliding stationary rollers with precision micro-bearings. Adjustable track sections allow you to test-run virtually any locomotive in your gauge, and fully support and provide electrical power to pilot and trailing trucks and tender wheels during operation.

If you regularly perform any type of repairs, re-gearing or decoder installations, Testtraxx will become an indispensable part of your workbench.
Each Testtraxx is handcrafted by Phil Floyd, "The Shay Fixer," just up the road from us in Janesville, Calif. To learn more about Testtraxx or Phil's other services, visit his website at
